Men's Track
Attended the University of Oregon in 2001-02, and trained locally with a group of post-collegians coached by Matt Lonergan, the same coach and husband of 2000 women's 1,500 Olympian Marla Runyan. Fall 2002: One of cross country team’s top two newcomers, he ran in three meets for Ducks. Finished seventh on squad in Pac-10 Championships (46th, 25:23) and Roy Griak Invite (128th, 25:56), and also ran in NCAA Western Regional open race (42nd, 6K 20:07). Ran first race as Duck and ranked second on ‘B’ unit in Pier Park Preview (eighth, 25:15). 2001-02: Attended University of Oregon, but did not train with squad. Competed unattached locally at several area meets, including the Oregon Twilight (3,000, sixth, 8:33.83) and Oregon Invitational (5,000, fifth, 15:03.67) at Eugene's Hayward Field, and in the Willamette Invitational in Salem (800, 25th, 2:01.62; 1,500, eighth, 3:59.99). Lowered his personal best in the 1,500 (3:56.52) in another meet at Willamette University. Prep: Lettered three seasons in cross country and track and won team's most improved award. Coached by Mark Stripe, and graduated in 2000 from Yorktown High School. In 2000-2001, attended Lawrenceville Prep Academy, and ran cross country and track under coaches Edward Poreda (xc) and Jon Shilts (track). Personal: Major: Chemistry.
