No. 20 Oregon Dominates Nevada In Game One Of Doublheader, Wins 6-1
April 22, 2003 EUGENE - Oregon freshman pitcher Amy Harris had a career-high 12 strikeouts and No. 20 Oregon hit two home runs to defeat Nevada, 6-1, in the first game of a doubleheader at Howe Field Tuesday. With the win, Oregon improves to 25-14 overall, 4-8 Pacific-10 Conference and Nevada fell to 20-28, 3-9 Western Athletic Conference. Oregon's offense got going early as the Ducks went ahead 2-0 in the first inning after a home run by Vidlund and a sacrifice fly by catcher Jenn Poore that scored Lynsey Haij. Haij and Poore walked with one out in the third inning and both scored on a double by Vidlund to put Oregon ahead 5-0 after three innings. Senior Janell Bergstrom hit her second home run of the season in the fourth inning to extend the Ducks' lead to 6-0. Nevada finally broke through in the top of the seventh inning, getting one run on three hits to break up Harris' perfect game. Harris improved her season record to 12-10 and moved up to ninth all-time at Oregon with 12 strikeouts this season.
