LOS ANGELES, Calif. - The second-ranked UCLA Bruins hit two home runs in the bottom of the fourth inning en route to a 4-3 victory over No. 19 Oregon in front of 269 fans at Easton Stadium in Los Angeles, Calif., Friday afternoon. With the win, UCLA improves to 41-5 overall, 13-3 Pacific-10 Conference. The Ducks are now 28-16, 6-10 heading into games at Washington Saturday and Sunday.

"We had the lead and gave ourselves opportunities to win late so I'm pleased with that," Oregon head coach Kathy Arendsen said. I thought our defense played very well and we were able to score early. Now we need to focus on tomorrow and continue to play well."

The Ducks took the early lead in the first inning when senior Amber Hutchison scored on an RBI by left fielder Andrea Vidlund. UCLA quickly got the run back in the bottom of the inning on a home run by catcher Tairia Mims.

With two outs in the top of the fourth inning, Oregon sophomore Erin Goodell walked and scored on an RBI double by shortstop Breanne Sabol, giving the Ducks the lead again, 2-1. But, once again, the Bruins responded in the bottom of the inning, going ahead 3-2 on a two-run home run by Clare Sua. Center fielder Stephanie Ramos extended UCLA's lead in the next at-bat, hitting her seventh home run of the season.

UCLA held a 4-2 lead heading into the seventh inning when Oregon senior Andrea Vidlund hit her 10th home run of the season with two outs in the top of the inning to bring the Ducks within a run, 4-3, but the Ducks were unable to score the tying run. Vidlund is now tied for third all-time with 31 career home runs and needs just five to break the all-time record.

Oregon freshman Amy Harris (14-12) struck out three batters in the loss while UCLA freshman Michelle Turner improved to 11-0 with the win.
