Women's Track
A five-time Pac-10 Championships scorer in the nation’s toughest throws conference, is also a two-time discus All-American. In school history, ranks second in discus (177-5), and fourth in shot put (49-11 1/4) and hammer (176-10). Needs throw of 180-9 to equal school discus record, and shot put heave of 50-5 1/4 or better to move into school’s all-time top three. Based on 2002 season bests, ranks third and ninth among Pac-10 returnees, respectively, and sixth nationally in discus with last year’s top five all back in 2003. Career-wise, has won 31 outdoor events in her career, with five more indoor wins. Fall 2002 (Soccer): Walked on soccer team early in preseason, and proved a key addition when the top back-up Domenique Lainez went down in the with an ankle injury after the second game of the campaign. She played 32 minutes in her first collegiate match in a 4-2 win over Wisconsin-Green Bay, and made one save and allowed two goals. Continued to boost squad in practice but didn’t see any playing time during conference season. 2001-02: All-American (Discus). Captured eighth place in discus in NCAA finale for second time (173-2). In Pac-10 Championships, scored for first time in both shot put (seventh, PR 49-11 1/4) and discus (third, 169-1). During season, four of her nine shot put efforts were +48-11 1/2 feet or better, six of her 11 discus efforts were +165 feet, and five of her eight hammer efforts were +160 feet. In discus, topped 170-foot line in Texas Relays in both sections (AM-first, 172-7; PM, first, 173-6), and in Oregon Invitational (first, 173-2), Oregon Twilight (first, 177-5) and NCAA Champs (eighth, 173-2). Overall at season’s end, led throws corps in discus (177-5), shot put (49-11 1/4) and stood second in hammer (167-4). Finished outdoor season with 14 wins on year (1 - hammer; 5 - shot put, including three straight to start the season; 8 - discus, including eight of 10 total and seven in a row to start year before losing to NCAA runner-up Becky Breisch of Nebraska in May opener). Indoors, added pair of wins in shot put (44-9 1/2) and weight throw (49-11 3/4) in Husky Scoring Meet. Led squad at season’s end with marks from the UW Invitational in the shot put (second, 48-4) and weight throw (third, 55-8 1/2).
2000-01: NCAA Qualifier. Made second NCAA appearance in discus and finished 19th with her one legal qualifying mark (139-2) after fouling her two other attempts in the preliminary round. Turned in busy afternoon in Pac-10 Championships with top-12 finishes in discus (fourth, 168-8), shot put (11th, 45-10 3/4) and hammer (12th, 170-9) - one of only three conference athletes to accomplish the feat and the only returnee in 2002. Raised personal best in discus in Mt. SAC Relays to win section (175-9). Upped her hammer best in the meet prior, the Willamette Open (176-10) - one of three victories that afternoon. Threw shot put season best of 47-11 3/4 in Oregon Twilight (second). Won eight competitions during season (discus-5, shot put-2, and hammer-1), and was past 165 feet in discus in six of eight competitions, including three over 170 feet. Stepped up with 13 points in team win in Washington Dual (shot put, first, 43-5 3/4; discus, first, then-PR 175-5; hammer, second, then-PR 172-7). Led Ducks outdoors in discus, shot put and ranked second in hammer. Indoors, paced team in shot put (45-5 1/2) and ranked second in weight throw (56-10), and claimed shot put wins in the Great Northwest Open (45-5 1/2) and Eugene Indoor (42-8 1/2).
1999-2000: All-American. Finished season on high note with All-America honors (eighth, 166-11) and the top finish among NCAA freshmen after entering contest seeded 16th. In Pac-10 meet, overcome foul in shot put to take third in discus field (then-PR 173-11). Supplied ample points in dual victory vs. Washington with discus win (162-9) and second-place finishes in shot put (45-1 3/4) and hammer (158-0). Added eight other wins during outdoor season, most notably in discus in Stanford Invite (168-1) and Cardinal Invite (165-9), and shot-discus doubles in Oregon Preview (46-3 1/2 / 160-7) and Linfield Icebreaker (47-7 / 159-5). Debuted indoors with shot put personal best in Silver State Invite (sixth, 48-2). Scored in Mountain Pacific Championships in shot put (fifth, 46-2) and weight throw (eighth, then-PR 50-8 3/4).
Prep: Owned high school bests of 168-6 in discus and 48-2 1/2 in shot put to rank sixth and fourth, respectively, in the nation. Won state titles in the discus in 1998 (154-10) and 1999 (155-10). Added state shot put runner-up finish as a senior (44-7 1/4), and claimed victory as a junior in 1998 (44-4). Came back in June to win 1999 Golden West Invitational with personal best in the shot put (48-2 1/2) and took fourth in the discus (153-1). Competed in 1999 U.S. Junior Championships and took fifth in discus (163-3) and 11th in shot put (46-1 1/2). Team's Most Inspirational Award winner in 1997, 1998 and 1999 and Panther of the Year in 1999. Added three letters in soccer, including MVP honors as goalkeeper for '97 state champions, and four letters in basketball as a wing/post. National Honor Society member and Honor Roll selection.
