Team’s top middle distance returnee who continued to mature at the 6K cross country distance in fall of 2002. A two-time Pac-10 track finalist in the 800, barely missed an NCAA outdoor invite in spring of 2002. Also a two-time NCAA Cross Country Championships veteran (1999, 2000). Ranks seventh all-time for Ducks in 800 (2:06.37) and only .20 seconds out of sixth, while fifth place at 2:04.78. If she chases an indoor qualifying run, the NCAA provisional mark is 2:09.60, and the automatic standard is 2:06.90. Stands first on team among returnees in 800 and fourth in 1,500, and third and 21st in the Pac-10 based on 2002 season bests.

Fall 2002: Helped squad to fifth place in NCAA Western Regional with her best race as a Duck harrier (26th, 22:20) - and one of four Ducks in the top 30. Scored for Ducks in all five varsity stops, including the Pac-10 Champs (44th, 22:36), Pre-Nationals (112th, 22:09), and Willamette (28th, 18:13) and Roy Griak Invites (61st, 22:29). Joined teammate Erinn Gulbrandsen on Pac-10 Cross Country All-Academic First Team.

2001-02: NCAA Provisional Qualifier (800). Missed NCAA invite by .04 seconds and two places on national qualifying list with team best in 800 (2:06.37). Advanced to Pac-10 800 final for second time in career (eighth, 2:19.76) after running second-fastest effort of year in prelim (2:07.61, third-heat / seventh-overall). Won three 800 races during outdoor season, including personal best in Washington Dual (2:06.71), Oregon Twilight (2:08.70) and Montana-Weber State Triangular (2:11.98). Also ranked fourth on unit in 1,500 with Pac-10 qualifier and personal best in Nebraska Quad (third, 4:35.79). Indoors, ran team’s two fastest 800 clockings of season in UW Quad (fourth, 2:15.64) and Washington Invitational (seventh, 2:16.14). Indoors, led unit in 800 with her season best from the UW Quad (fourth, 2:15.64). Pac-10 All-Academic Second-Team selection in track. Redshirted cross country season after a femur stress fracture from May 2001 limited her summer training. Still trained with program much of fall, and raced unattached in Willamette Invite (33rd, 18:32) and would have ranked second among a mostly varsity Duck corps.

2000-01: NCAA Provisional Qualifier. Led Ducks with one-second personal best in May's Cardinal Invite (sixth, 2:07.08), and.60 seconds short of an NCAA invite. Ran second-best time of year the week prior in Oregon Invite (fourth, 2:09.19). Scored against the Huskies in dual meet with win in 800 (2:14.49) and third place in 1,500 (4:47.28). At season's end, was forced to drop out of the Pac-10 800 mid-race after a stress fracture appeared the week before. Competed in 800 twice indoors with season best in Idaho Scoring meet (second, 2:15.75). In cross country, was one of only two Ducks to score in every race. Ranked third for team in three key meets, including the Roy Griak Invite (57th, 22:20) and NCAA Western Regional (45th, 21:53), and fourth in three races -- including NCAA (194th, 22:50.4) and Pac-10 Championships (36th, 22:20) and Iowa State Memorial Classic (176th, 23:16.1). Pac-10 All-Academic Second Team selection.

1999-2000: Pac-10 Scorer. Capped freshman season with appearances in the finals of the 800 in the Pac-10 Championships (eighth, 2:12.51 / 2:09.70 prelims) and U.S. Junior Championships (eighth, 2:18.35 / 2:12.36 prelims). Led the Ducks in the 800 with her personal best from the Oregon Invitational (first, 2:08.62) and missed NCAA provisional mark of 2:07.00 by less than two seconds. Also ran sub-2:10 effort in the Stanford Invite (eighth, 2:09.43). In the 1,500 was less than a quarter-second off the Pac-10 qualifying mark with her personal best from the Willamette Open (sixth, 4:40.31). Was frequent member of the 4x400 relay and also ran 400 in Oregon Preview (third, 57.39). During fall, scored in five of six meets, and helped the Ducks to 19th-place finish in the NCAA Championships (226th, 19:07.6). Was team's fourth finisher in Pac-10 final (31st, 18:39.9), before ranking sixth in the NCAA Western Regional (85th, 18:59). Ranked second on team in adidas Notre Dame Invite (10th, 17:44).

Prep: Won 13 state titles (800-4, 4x400-4, 400-1, cross country-4). As a senior, claimed state crowns in the 400 (56.88), 800 (2:20.77) and 4x400 (4:03.32) after capturing her fourth harrier title in the fall of 1998. As a junior, won the state 800 (2:22.03) and 4x400 (4:06.90) and finished second in the 400 (56.71). Owned one of top personal bests of 1999 graduates nationally with her 800 mark (2:09.95) from the 1998 Golden West Invite (third), to go along with a 1,500 best of 4:45 and 400 best of 56.74. Four-time West Regional Championships harrier qualifier. High School (Coach): Punahou '99 (Duncan Macdonald).

Personal: Major: Journalism. Her father Duncan Macdonald was a former Stanford All-America distance runner and an Olympian in 5,000 meters. He was the first athlete to break Steve Prefontaine's American 5,000 record of 13:21.87 from 1974, and his personal best (13:19.40) is from 1976. Born Erin Iliana Macdonald on January 13, 1981 in Santa Clara, Calif.
